What is love? A 3d translucency refraction demo. Translation: fancy light makes pretty.

Love

You've seen it in ice cubes, you've eaten it in gelcaps, and now you can play with it in your browserโ€” translucency. Here we've taken Robert Indiana's classic sculpture (please don't sue us) and rendered it in a red translucent plastic. In this experience, you can use your mouse or finger to move the camera and explore the subtle ways the light bounces thru the sculpture.

What's the big deal? If you look through, say, a glass of clear liquid, a bottle, or an old window, you'll notice that the objects on the other side of it are a bit distorted. That's because the light between that object and you doesn't just pass right through -- it bounces around. And inside that particle party a lot of complicated stuff is happening. But now thanks to the latest advances in WebGL, we can bring this effect which was once limited to cinema and the newest video games directly to your browser. Opening up new possibilities for visualizations and interactions. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Don't stay inside the box you've been put in. Break out of it. ๐Ÿ’ช
